His background in wood fungi taxonomy and a special interest in wild fungi collection for food and medicine will provide you with plenty of knowledge so you can succeed with your mushroom projects.

The Forest of Nisene State Park/Mt Madonna
We’ll start with an introduction to mushrooms (aprox 45 minutes -1 hour) discussing wild edible and medicinal mushrooms in general then we’ll go for the field trip.
This field trip will be held in the sacred garden of fungi -the local forest where we’re going to explore different identification characteristics necessary to diagnose the local edible and medicinal fungi. You’ll be explained how to understand field guide descriptions for accurate identification purposes. The focus is going to be on over 20 wild edible mushroom species most of which have non-existent or a low number of poisonous look-alikes. Differences with the latter will be also discussed.
We’ll talk about ways to prepare mushrooms for cooking, the role of mushrooms in nature, medicinal mushrooms -how to identify and prepare healing potions & more
In order to learn even more about some other choice edible mushrooms that we didn’t had the chance to find in the woods you’ll get free access to the 21 Wild Choice Edible Mushrooms class available on the MC training platform where you’ll be able to see them in their natural habitat and access video presentations about them.

After you take this field trip in the forest you'll be able to:
identify several wild edible and medicinal mushrooms. Since focus will be placed on the local wild edible mushrooms you’ll be able to recognize them in your local woods and harvest them for your own cooking recipes.
WHAT TO BRING
a notebook, a pen, and a little basket/bag are some of the items that you may bring (if you want).
Also make sure that you’ll be properly dressed for a mushroom foray: sturdy shoes, long pants, mosquito repellent, and any other things you consider might be helpful.
