mushroom farming

About This Course

Beginner mushroom grower’s biggest challenge is substrates being taken over by pests such as molds, bacteria, yeasts, viruses, or various insects. In some cases beginner grower’s loose up to 50% of their entire mushroom crop and this discourages many beginners. This is learning the hard way and usually comes with effort and expenses. To get to the level of knowledge and experience required to grow mushrooms in a decent way is a long process.

This course is meant to ease your path towards transformation from beginner to advanced. It will show you how to set up your mushroom farm, how to set or build your equipment to ensure proper climate for your mushrooms, ways to get good yields, how to get rid of contamination and pests or how to market your mushrooms – all in one just to help you start you mushroom farming journey.

Bonus Modules

Most mushroom farmers don’t allow visitors on their farms just because they want to avoid competition or because they don’t want you to contaminate their farm with molds or bacteria (humans represent vectors for such things). Some will allow you to visit but won’t allow you to take pictures, This makes it hard for a startup grower to get inspiration. This show is about low-tech small-scale mushroom farm that I had the chance to visit. You’ll be able to see and get some inspiration to help you in setting up your own production line,

Why Low-Tech?

Mushrooms don’t need fancy equipment to grow what they need is for you to provide them conditions for proper development which may be achieved by using low-tech equipment. Low-Tech means low-cost which is the ideal state for every beginner grower wanting to start a mushroom farm for self sufficiency or business. This also involves fun projects and requires growers to have a certain degree of creativity.

Launching a small-scale low-tech mushroom production line without proper guidance can be challenging – this will show you how with low investment of only $100 you can start and take your mushroom farming journey from stage 0 to stage 1.

Whether you’ll start to grow mushrooms with $100 or more in your pocket you’ll need to put up a plan. This explains you how in 5 basic steps you can get some mushroom blocks going, how to ensure them proper climate for optimal development, and how to run growth trials to find suitable strains.

Once you got through these 5 steps you’ll be able to sell your first mushrooms at the farmer’s market or local restaurants.

About Your Instructor

I grow mushrooms since 2005. I created this course to share my experience with you and to help you start the right way. When I first started out with growing mushrooms I did it the hard way and I lost a lot of time doing extensive research on how to grow mushrooms, I lost energy and funds in trials that got contaminated with bacteria and molds and many times I got disappointed. I had nobody to guide me but the internet and some books. I lost a lot of time and energy on the internet just browsing through fragmented information that in most cases wasn’t quality information, so I felt like I was playing puzzle and it took me a long time to understand what’s all about with mushroom growing or spawn making. I ran into random issues: molds would take over half of my mushroom blocks, other mushrooms popping instead of the expected mushrooms, weird looking fruitbodies..you name it. For me it was an adventure but honestly, I wouldn’t do it again.

mushroom classes

Later, many of the farms I’ve visited were struggling out there to get the results they wanted to get but had no clear guidance. Some were doing much better than others and that’s the moment when I realized what means mentorship. Growing mushrooms is an art and to find the right path requires knowledge and experience. COMMON BEGINNER MISTAKES WHEN THERE'S NO GUIDANCE

That’s what I saw while visiting a startup mushroom farm. These are moldy substrate bags -this turns effort, materials, cost and time into nothing but discouragement
