About This Program
By the end of this training you’ll have a general understanding on how mushrooms are grown, what to start with and how to grow them indoors and outdoors in a sustainable manner. Whether you want to design a garden permaculture model or just want to grow oyster mushrooms on coffee grounds this training will teach how you can do that including how to offer them the climate condition they need for optimal development -everything done following a low-tech approach which involves minimal costs and stimulates creativity.
The program is composed of two parts: 1 – Grower Starter Pack dedicated to anyone’s interesting to start with mushroom growing from scratch. The training goes deeper discussing details on how you can set up a small-scale low-tech mushroom farm as well. The second part of the training – Low-tech Spawn Lab is dedicated to both beginners and intermediates wanting to improve their techniques. Depending on what you want to do you have the option to choose what you want to learn.
Who is this for?

The Problem..
Beginner mushroom growers often get discouraged by growing mushrooms because of lack of information and experience. There’s plenty of information on the internet; however it is fragmented and you need to spend a lot of time to gather valuable pieces of info. Besides this, what works for others might not work for you. The biggest challenge when growing mushrooms is competitor organisms for the same type of food that you want to grow your fungus on. Often substrates get colonized by molds or bacteria and beginner growers experience this a lot so they usually loose up to 50% or more of they’re entire mushroom crop. This is a way to learn but it comes with expenses, effort and discouragement. To get to the level of knowledge and experience in which to grow mushrooms the decent way is a long process. This course is meant to guide you so you can spare funds, minimize effort and get good results.

THE PROBLEM..
It took me several years to find out how to avoid bacteria and mold related complications. It’s utopic to say that there’s a perfect technique that will work 100% -the reality is that there’s no such technique. Instead, what we’re trying to do is to minimize contamination as much as we can. If contamination in a lab is under 3% that’s fine.
As I realized is not only the technique that you have to work on but also your clean air flowhood has something to say about this. Thick filtered clean air flowhoods after some years get clogged and become inefficient. This training gives you not only the technique but also the solution for a way more efficient flowhood type (compared to what you get from HEPA clean air flowhoods). Luckily is also a way cheaper fiberglass-free option.
What You'll Learn
- Fungi grow differently on different growth media therefore knowing what's best for a particular fungus to grow on is essential because you earn time.
- You'll learn the step-by-step process of making solid and liquid media for fungus growth
- You'll learn general mycology lab techniques essential in the spawn making process, and lab culture management
- You'll learn the step-by-step spawn making process on a small scale using low-tech equipment
- Once you get spawn you'll learn what to look for when making spawn to be sure that you get a high quality spawn. This will be also helpful you purchase spawn from others
- Fungus Tissue Transfer is a spawn lab technique that requires much attention if you want to get good results. Some people fall at this and keep wandering why they get mold or bacteria in their spawn
- You'll learn how to build your own customizable low-tech clean air flow which is fiberglass free by the way. This is huge. Only the info presented in this training module will spare you from spending thousands of dollars on conventional air flowhoods.
- Now that you'll have a bunch of mushroom cultures with different genetics you'll want to organize them and this can get pretty hectic when you have hundreds of cultures -you'll learn how to organize them and preserve them in good condition for a long time so you can use them when you want.
Why Low-Tech?
Mushrooms don’t need fancy equipment to grow what they need is for you to provide them conditions for proper development which may be achieved by using low-tech equipment. Low-Tech means low-cost which is the ideal state for every beginner grower wanting to start a mushroom farm for self sufficiency or business. This also involves fun projects and requires growers to have a certain degree of creativity.
About Your Instructor
I grow mushrooms for over 18 years. I created this program to share my experience with you and to help you start the right way. When I first started out with growing mushrooms I did it the hard way and I lost a lot of time doing extensive research on how to grow mushrooms, I lost energy and funds in trials that got contaminated with bacteria and molds and many times I got disappointed. I had nobody to guide me but the internet and some books. I lost a lot of time and energy on the internet just browsing through fragmented information that in most cases wasn’t quality information, so I felt like I was playing puzzle and it took me a long time to understand what’s all about with mushroom growing or spawn making. I ran into random issues: molds would take over half of my mushroom blocks, other mushrooms popping instead of the expected mushrooms, weird looking fruitbodies..you name it. For me it was an adventure but honestly, I wouldn’t do it again.
Later, many of the farms I’ve visited were struggling out there to get the results they wanted to get but had no clear guidance. Some were doing much better than others and that’s the moment when I realized what means mentorship. Growing mushrooms is an art and to find the right path requires knowledge and experience. Here's What Others Have To Say About The Help They Got
“Although I’m not a mushroom cultivation beginner I found Daniel’s overview on mushroom cultivation captivating and with some novel details. He uses simple terminology, the material is easy to follow, and I felt indrawn in his story. Excellent base to begin with! Maybe I am too much into mushrooms, however, there is always something to learn and Daniel has real experience in this field and the passion to show and share it! Thank you, Daniel” – Jovana V., PhD in mushroom science, Serbia
Having completed the first lesson (week 1) there is the feeling that growing mushrooms is a bit like paint by numbers with a “But”. That but is that while it is easy to get started BUT, it is not that easy to get it all right first go. Dr T sets the scene for what will ultimately, I think, prove to be a worth white course. Even if I can increase my yield by a kilo, It has paid for the course. – Paul F., Australia
“Dr Tura’s Online class really helped me round out my knowledge of basic mushroom cultivation. I learned the fundamentals to a functional and clean workspace, the why’s, how’s, and what’s to spawn production, and even how to build an affordable laminar flow hood. The program is designed for the curious mycophile starting out or for that hobby grower that needs to re-evaluate their processes.” Michael Heim – Boulder, CO
‘I love Your courses very informative.‘ -Reiner K., Austria
“I just wanted to show you what we cooked up. Thanks for the course, it really helped a lot.
Yeah she took a lot of effort, very stoked with the outcome (and the 3m filters doing what they are supposed to).”
Byron, South Africa

COMMON BEGINNER MISTAKES WHEN THERE'S NO GUIDANCE
That’s what I saw while visiting a startup mushroom farm. The owner didn’t know what’s going on whit his oyster mushroom columns. Many beginner mushroom growers out there get into such issues
- You might pick a weak strain that gets you poor results and gets you discouraged
- You purchase bad spawn from an unreliable source -this will mess up your mushroom grow project
- There are several mushroom grow methods out there and you might pick one that doesn't work for you
- There are different types of containers out there but you pick one that doesn't suit your project
- You don't exactly know how to set up your small growroom
- You run into issues like molds or bacteria taking over 20% or more of your substrate
- You got your project going and you realize that you lost time, energy and materials because it didn't work as expected
- You've got mushrooms but they are very few and small
- Your mushrooms look kinda funky and you don't know why
- You've got other mushrooms instead of what you wanted
- Your mushrooms popped but dried up
- You have fly and other pest issues but don't know how to control them, etc.
- Your bags look kinda funky and didn't fruit
