The MC Mushroom Club – details for beginners

This mushroom club is focused on mushroom farming classes and wild mushroom foraging – dedicated to beginners. The mushroom farming training is divided into 3 levels:

LEVEL 1 – teaches the basics of low-tech mushroom growing (where to start, mushroom growing techniques, strain power, how to provide them with the conditions they need, etc) and is designed for total beginners;
LEVEL 2 – gets the student deeper into growing different kinds of mushrooms, ways to reduce contamination, etc
LEVEL 3 – teaches how to increase yield, mushroom marketing, farm setup, etc.

The first level is divided into 3 stages.

Stage 1 has the goal to teach you the following:

  • provides you with a general picture of what means mushroom growing
  • teaches you the difference between good spawn and bad spawn
  • teaches you the importance of climate control
  • teaches you the importance of substrate disinfection
  • teaches you how to calculate mushroom harvest yield
  • shows you how to build your own mushroom grow chamber
  • how to grow your first mushrooms

Stage 2 get you a bit deeper into the subject focusing on the multitude of options when it’s about mushroom growing:

  • provides you a general picture of different commercially grown mushrooms
  • explains you what means to grow mushrooms using different substrates and different recipes
  • explains you the different grow techniques out there so you can understand what’s best to use
  • explains you the  differences when working with various mushroom strains

Stage 3 teaches focuses on how to grow mushrooms the natural way following a sustainable and ethical approach.

  • teaches you how to ethically grow mushrooms
  • teaches you how to grow mushrooms in your own garden
  • how to grow mushrooms on logs and stumps
  • how to integrate mushroom growing with permaculture 
  • gives you access to a Q&A database so you can learn even more  

The second level is divided into 3 stages and focuses on how to grow mushrooms on supplemented substrates, how to control pests and how to make your own spawn.

Stage 1 teaches the following:

  • how to grow various mushroom types, the differences between them (shiitake, reishi, lion’s mane, etc)
  • how to manage the mold contamination problem

Stage 2 teaches you the following:

  • how to grow various types of mushrooms -part 2  (chestnuts, enoki, paddy straw, etc)
  • Pest control -continued (bacteria, mites, nematodes, etc)

Stage 3 introduces you to the spawn making technology

  • you’ll learn how to prepare Petri plates and inoculate them with fungus
  • how to make spawn
  • spawn lab techniques
  • how to set up a spawn lab 

The third level is meant to teach the student how to set up a small scale mushroom grow operation, how to grow some other interesting mushrooms how to increase yields & more

Stage 1&2 teaches you the following:

  • how to set up a low-tech small scale mushroom farm
  • how to grow mushrooms like Cordyceps and milky

Stage 3 teaches you the following:

  • mushroom marketing 
  • yield increase strategies
  • growing some other interesting mushrooms

The wild mushroom foraging classes represent the last part and include 3 stages:

Stage 1 -designed to teach you the basics and include the following:

  • an introduction to mushroom identification characteristics

Stage 2 – discusses different world famous gourmet mushrooms:

  • 21 wild edible mushrooms

Stage 3 – teaches you how to identify medicinal mushrooms

  • foraging for wild medicinal mushrooms

In total you get 1 year of training modules.

The training is designed to help you understand the mechanisms behind the mushroom growing process with a focus on how to implement the teachings that you get.

The training modules are up to one hour long or more mostly include both, theory and step-by-step instructions in video format and text.

The student gets access to 1 training module/week + support and other benefits. Every month there will be a live Q&A session where we’ll be discussing the issues that the student faces along the mushroom cultivation journey. 

The instructor is a mycologist and mushroom farm consultant with over 16 years of experience in mushroom growing.

If you really want to learn you have to invest. This will speed up your learning process and won’t make you loose energy, time and materials on unnecessary trials.
